The all-or-nothing problem with streaks
Streaks work because they make the cost of skipping visible. They also fail for exactly that reason. Once the number resets to zero, the thing that was motivating you yesterday is the thing telling you it is over.
Most people do not quit a habit because it was too hard. They quit because they broke the chain, felt the sting, and never restarted. The counter that pushed them for forty days pushed them out on day forty-one.
How Streak Repair works
Every habit you log earns gems. When you miss a day, Fuego starts to flicker rather than going dark, and the gap stays in your history. Open the in-app Gem Store, spend gems on a Streak Repair, and the missed day fills back in.
The gems matter more than the mechanic. Because the only way to get them is by showing up, the safety net is funded by the same consistency it protects. Somebody on a two-day streak cannot buy their way out of anything. Somebody on a hundred-day streak has earned a little slack, and that is the point.
What it is not
Repairs are not a way to rebuild a month you skipped. They cover recent gaps, one day at a time, which is the shape of the actual problem: you got sick, you travelled, the day got away from you. A habit you abandoned for three weeks is a new streak, and Fuego treats it as one.

What happens if I miss a day?
Your streak breaks and Fuego starts to flicker. Nothing is deleted, and the day stays visible in your history as a gap. If you have gems, you can spend them on a Streak Repair and fill that gap back in.
How do I earn gems?
By showing up. Gems accumulate as you log habits, so the safety net is funded by the same consistency it protects. You cannot buy your way out of a broken streak without having built one first.
Can I repair any missed day?
Repairs apply to recent gaps, one day at a time. They are meant for the day you were sick or travelling, not for rebuilding a month you skipped.
Does repairing a streak feel like cheating?
That is the tension we designed around. A streak with no safety net makes one bad day feel like a reason to quit entirely. A streak you can repair for free stops meaning anything. Paying gems you earned keeps the cost real.
